The department teaches the public health curriculum (theoretical-practical—field visits) to students of the second year, a modern system, and the fourth year, an old system, at the Faculty of Medicine.
The department provides practical training for students on the different methodologies of scientific research.
-Visiting urban centers to learn about the various health services and programs such as family medicine, family file, and maternity and childhood services.
-A visit to the water purification plant aims to identify the steps of water purification and treatment as an essential element of environmental health, which has the greatest impact on human health.
-Visiting some factories, which aim to learn about occupational health and safety programs offered to workers.
-Visiting the village, which aims to assess the health status of the residents of the village and to know the health services provided to them in the health units.
-A visit to determine how to identify food safety and the health steps to be taken into account to deal with food during transportation, storage, preparation, cooking, and serving to provide safe and healthy food.
-Visit the hospital to learn about the foundations of the infection control program and the policies applied in hospitals to control infection and maintain the security and safety of patients and hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, and workers.
– Field visits to primary and middle schools to raise students’ health awareness about (some epidemic diseases – hand washing – proper nutrition – personal hygiene).
-Field visits to children’s homes to raise health awareness about some chronic diseases and proper nutrition.
-Field visits to the homes of the elderly to raise health awareness about some chronic diseases and proper nutrition.
Participation in health education training seeks to spread and enhance health awareness, as well as address societal demands, by fostering health culture and healthy behaviors and bridging the gap between information and private health practices inside a university setting.
-Collaboration with the National Population Council to execute a mother-and-child health program in the governorate in 2016/2017.
– Working with the authority to organize and train some training courses for health programs from 2018 to the present.
