Under the patronage of Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, Aswan University President, on Thursday, corresponding to October 26, 2023, the urology department at Aswan Faculty of Medicine organized a workshop of:
”Flexible Ureteroscopy for The Treatment of Urinary Tract Stones”
In the attendance of Prof.Mohamed Zaki Al-Dahshour, Dean of the Faculty and Chairman of Aswan University Hospitals; Prof. Ihab Refaat, Professor of Urinary Tract and Vice-Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Minia University; Prof. Mohamed Saleh Al-Din Fahmy, Executive Manager of Aswan University Hospitals; Prof. Mohamed Mustafa Hussein Younis, Head of the Department and Vice-Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Dr. Amr Alam El Din-Lecturer of the Department; and a group of academic staff and their assistants and doctors resident in the urinary department at Aswan University Hospital.
Al-Dahshoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, declared that the workshop surveys various aspects of kidney stones, medically and surgically. In addition to teaching young doctors how to utilize a flexible ureteroscope for stones, the workshop highlights the most recent findings in flexible laparoscopic stone treatment.
”Younis” Head of the Urology Department at Aswan Medicine, added that the training was conducted by Prof.Refaat- Professor of Urology at Minia University, where these events are held to transfer and exchange experiences and knowledge between specialists in the same specialty, as well as to train young doctors on everything new in the Urology department, including introducing them to flexible laparoscopy.
Additionally, Aswan University Hospitals has experienced unprecedented growth and provided medical services to all Aswan patients. In addition to the urinary department conducting massive operations using nephroscopy and flexible ureteroscopy; the workshop discusses endoscope use, and the scientific forums encourage people to keep informed on all developments in treating stones, kidney patients, and urinary tracks.
”Refaat”, Professor of the Urinary Tracks Department at Minia University, praised the advanced level of the Faculty of Medicine and Aswan University Hospitals, as well as the importance of this workshop and the role of flexible endoscopy in surgical operations, which is considered a new addition to the Urinary Tracks Major at Aswan University Hospital.
