An Introduction to Medical Parasites
Parasitology is the science concerned with the study of parasites and their relationship with the host. It is divided into three main branches: helminthology (study of parasitic worms), protozoology (study of protozoa), and medical entomology (study of disease-carrying insects).
The Department of Medical Parasitology is one of the basic medical science departments in the Faculty of Medicine. It was established along with the founding of the faculty, and teaching in the department began in 2013. The department is responsible for teaching undergraduate students as well as postgraduate students (Diploma, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees).
The comprehensive vision aims to contribute to the mainstream of medical education in the field of medical parasitology in Egypt within the Islamic culture of the past and present to produce a graduate who is able to work efficiently according to accepted national standards.
To graduate distinguished physicians and researchers who are capable of applying national and international standards in healthcare, while adhering to the ethics of the medical profession.
