The orthopedics department in the faculty of medicine, at Aswan University, held a workshop entitled “Using external fixation for fracture repair, adjustment, and lengthening of orthopedic surgery” under the auspices of Aswan university president Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, faculty of medicine’s dean Prof. Mohammed Zaki Al Dahshori, Aswan university hospital’s executive manager Dr. Ashraf Mabed and under the supervision of Prof. Hesham Hamed Refai, chairman of orthopedics department. Prof. Dahshori said that the workshop aims at developing Aswan university doctors’ skills and exchanging experience. The workshop was held in the lecture hall in the new internal medicine hospital.
He added that the faculty seeks to hold many seminars and workshops in various departments for continuing education and opening new horizons for doctors in the department of orthopedics and to provide them with surgical skills and methods of thinking that they don’t know; it will play a role in developing their skills in orthopedic surgery. Al-Refai pointed out that the workshop aspires to exchange and develop ideas and skills between Ain Shams University and Aswan University.
Dr. Mabead appreciated holding such a workshop that helps young doctors. Thanks went also to the workshop trainer Prof. Khaled Emara, professor of orthopedics at Ain Shams University as well as his great team; Prof. Ramy Diab, assistant professor of orthopedics at Ain Shams University, Dr. Mohamed Eissa, assistant professor of orthopedics at Ain Shams university, and the physician Mohamed Nour, orthopedics specialist.
Prof. Hesham Refai, Prof. Ebeid Yassin, assistant professor in the department, and Dr. Morsy Bassiouni, lecturer in the department, supervised and organized this workshop in cooperation with doctors and colleagues in the department. Thanks are also extended to Prof. Muhammad Zaki Al-Dahshouri for his constant support to the orthopedics department and the improvement of the process of continuous education and training, thanks also went to Dr. Ashraf Mabed for his support to the workshop. The workshop is a good start for holding many workshops and courses in the near future in order to enhance doctors’ skills and the formation of medical expertise in the people of Aswan.
