The Launch of An Expanded Medical Convoy That All Includes Specialties to Treat those Who Are Unable at The States Expense

The Supreme Medical and Relief Committee of the Cabinet, Aswan and South Valley Universities, and the Makers of Good Foundation for Development, in cooperation with Aswan Health Affairs Directorate, organized an expanded medical convoy that includes all specialties to treat those who are unable to pay at the state’s expense, under the auspices of the Prime Minister, under the supervision of Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, President of Aswan University, Prof. Youssef Gharnawi, President of South Valley University, and Representative Jaber Abu Khalil, Member of the House of Representatives. The convoy was launched over three days to include the following:

Banban Bahri and Mansouriya villages in Daraw Center, Thursday, June 16, 2022.
Banban Qibli, Al-Raqaba, and Al-Harbyab villages in Daraw Center, Friday, June 17, 2022.
Gharb Aswan and Al-Kubaniya villages in Aswan Center, Saturday, June 18, 2022.

The convoy was supervised by Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aswan University Hospitals; Prof. Mohamed Mustafa Amin, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs; and Dr. Ashraf Maabad, Director of Aswan University Hospital.

Prof. Othman, President of Aswan University, emphasized that the university’s role in serving the community and developing the environment stems from the university’s ongoing launch of medical convoys, which are part of the university’s commitment to serving the local community by providing distinguished services in all specializations by experts and specialized professors.

Dr. Al-Dahshouri, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, pointed out that the work of the medical convoy comes within the framework and plan of the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital to provide medical services through various medical convoys to the most needy areas, to work on increasing the connection between the university and the community and the surrounding environment, to work on reducing the burden on the shoulders of citizens, and to activate the role of the university in caring for the people of the region through integrated convoys to the poorest villages.

Dr. Mohamed, the college’s vice dean for community service and environmental development affairs, explained that the primary purpose of the convoy is to provide an integrated medical service to patients. The convoy conducted medical examinations on all cases and provided free treatment in 12  specialties.
