For the Third Year in a Row, Aswan Medicine Participates in the Surgical Camp of the Sister Tanzania State

Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, President of Aswan University, confirmed that Aswan Medicine participated in the surgical camp of Tanzania’s sister country, which began on Friday, March 10, 2023, and ended on Saturday, March 18, 2023, as part of the university’s community and service role to build a bridge of communication and cooperation towards the continent of Africa.

He examined Tanzanian citizens with the help of a medical team that included Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Professor of Urology and Urethral Stenosis, and Dr. Ahmed Salah, Lecturer of Urology at Aswan Medicine, as well as with the participation of  Assiut and Sohag Universities.

The work of the medical convoy, according to Al-Dahshoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, falls within the framework of Aswan University’s regional and international role towards the external community in the African continent, in line with the declaration of Aswan Governorate as the capital of culture, economy, and Arab and African youth for the African continent.

Al-Dahshouri also stated that the medical convoy’s work had begun at Sheki Hospital in Pemba Island, Tanzania, for the Department of Urology, and that over 6 days, the convoy examined about 500 patients suffering from various urinary tract abnormalities, and 80 accurate operations were performed for various urinary tract abnormalities in very difficult circumstances and capabilities.

Salah, a lecturer in the urology department at Aswan Medicine, added that this is the fourth international convoy in a row in which Aswan University participates annually to the sister country of Tanzania, in their belief in the important role that  Aswan University plays towards the African continent, explaining that the convoy checked on the patients after the procedure of surgical operations and providing free treatment.

In conclusion, the President of the Republic of Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Ali, and the Tanzanian Minister of Health received and honored the members of the Aswan University medical convoy and the cooperating medical team for their efforts during the convoy period. Al-Dahshoury explained that this honor came as a result of the efforts of Aswan Medicine in its participation in the ”Fourth International Medical Convoy” to Tanzania, in which 80  surgical operations have been conducted and hundreds of patients have been examined while providing free treatment.
