-An Introduction to Pathology:

It is a subfield of medical sciences that examines the traits of diseases, cell structure changes, and biological processes. It continues to diagnose illnesses, mostly by analyzing tissue, cell, and body fluid samples.

Vision:

The pathology department aims to be a leading center in grasping diseases and diagnosing them through training, education, scientific research and analyzing tissues, tumors, and cells.

Mission:

The department is committed to spreading disease science, training students and researchers on medical applications, doing research in different points of the science to help graduating doctors who are capable of treating patients according to the concepts of pathology as well as doing analyses and developed research.

Objectives:

  • Preparing the faculty of medicine’s students and qualifying them through training on grasping the pathological changes in the body’s tissues and organs through microscopy.
  • Training students on analyzing diseases through the eye, knowing different lesions to reach the accurate diagnosis so that they can take the proper action.
  • Educating the 3rd year students and providing pathology courses for the modern integral system (5+2) 1st and 2nd levels, faculty of medicine and general pathology for the faculty of nursing students.
  • It introduces master’s and MD programs for postgraduate students in pathology or other clinical or academic departments according to the faculty’s regulation in a way that helps in promoting the medicine’s scientific and research base.
  • The department has a vital role in doing scientific research in the different fields in cooperation with other specialties.
  • The department has a lab for analyzing tissues and tumors in addition to cellular analysis in the university hospital.
