Head of the Department’s Message

Pathology is the branch of medical science that investigates the structural, biochemical, and functional changes in cells, tissues, and organs that cause illness. Pathology is crucial to medical diagnosis and research.

The Department of Pathology is one of the most active departments in the Faculty of Medicine at Aswan University, consisting of three major components: education, diagnosis, and research.

One of the primary responsibilities is to educate third-year medical students in the old system, as well as first- and second-year integrated system students, nursing students, and all master’s and doctorate students from various specializations.

In addition to instructional activities, one of our primary responsibilities is to conduct acceptable-level research in various areas of the medical sector, as the department provides diagnostic services to all departments at Aswan University Hospital. The department accepts surgical resection specimens, surgical endoscopic specimens, biopsies, and fluids for cytological analysis from the university hospital or its affiliated clinics. Additionally, needle samples are drawn within the department for the aim of preliminary diagnosis of cases prior to surgery.
