A Cooperation Protocol Between The General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance and Aswan Specialized Hospital

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance and Aswan Specialized Hospital at Aswan University signed a medical cooperation protocol in attendance of Prof. Loai Saad El-Din Nasrat, Acting President of Aswan University, Prof.  Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aswan University Hospitals, Prof. Mohamed Salah El-Din Fahmy, Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, Prof. Ashraf Maabad, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service Affairs and Director of the Surgery Hospital, and Prof. Ramadan Ghaleb, Director of the Internal Medicine Hospital and Head of the Cardiovascular Medicine Department.

 

During the visit of a delegation from The General Authority for Aswan Comprehensive Health Insurance pioneers to ensure the actual preparing applying of the system, headed by Prof. Ehab Abu Aish, Vice President of the Authority and Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University; Prof. Mai Farid, Executive Director of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Authority, Dr. Heba Atef, Head of the Central Administration for Health Service Providers Affairs; and Prof. Sherif El Sherif, Head of the Central Administration for Beneficiary Affairs.

 

”Ghaleb” Director of the Internal Medicine Hospital pointed out the hospital has 157 beds and is regarded as an advanced academic institution in the governorate. As such, it is considered as one of the prestigious providers of the second level beneficiaries in the new Comprehensive Health Insurance system. He also mentioned that this signing will be activated in the next month of July and will cover all hospital services. It is hoped that this signing will soon be extended to all Aswan University Hospitals.

Mai, Executive Director of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Authority, affirmed that Aswan University is a crucial backer of the comprehensive health insurance system, as its hospitals supply over 75% of the governorate’s total health services.

 

She added, “A year and a half ago, I toured Aswan University Hospital with the Parliamentary Health Committee. The university hospital was regarded as the governorate’s most significant healthcare facility at the time, the hospital was able to join the system and receive accreditation in that short amount of time”.

 

“We are striving to create a comprehensive healthcare system that prioritizes the dignity of citizens and is run in accordance with the values of good governance, justice, quality, and efficiency,” she continued. Aswan’s local community is willing to participate in its implementation and is an engaged participant

 

After the contract was signed, a delegation from the Authority visited the Aswan Heart Center, which is connected to the Magdi Yacoub Foundation, for an inspection. In order to integrate this medical facility into the network of service providers inside the comprehensive health insurance system, authority officials spoke with the hospital’s management about their expertise and the steps involved.
