The President of Aswan University received an official letter from the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Universities commending the proposal to establish a branch of an Egyptian university in Mauritania, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation between Egypt and its sister African nations.
The letter stated that the proposal emerged during a meeting between the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Mauritanian Ambassador to Cairo, during which the mechanisms for establishing the university branch were discussed. The initiative aims to reinforce Egypt’s role in supporting higher education across the African continent.
The letter also highlighted the Mauritanian side’s strong support for the proposal, stressing the importance of establishing an Egyptian university branch in the capital, Nouakchott. The university is expected to serve as a leading educational and cultural institution, contributing to the preparation of qualified professionals, with the possibility of offering academic programs in Arabic, English, and French.
This proposal comes within the framework of the Egyptian government’s efforts to enhance scientific and cultural cooperation with African countries and to promote academic and intellectual exchange among their peoples.
