Launching The Third Edition Activities of The Annual Medical Conference of the Urology and Andrology Surgery Department

In line with Aswan University’s commitment to supporting scientific research and advancing specialized medical education, and under the patronage of Prof.Louay Saad El-Din Nasrat, Acting President of Aswan University, and Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dashoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the Third International Conference of the Department of Urology and Andrology at the Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University, were officially inaugurated this morning, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Pyramisa Hotel in Aswan.

 

The conference is organized in cooperation with the Egyptian Association of Urological Surgeons, the Kuwaiti Association of Urological Surgeons, and the Mediterranean Basin Association for Microsurgery of Urology. It is held under the supervision of Prof. Gamal Ghoneim, Professor of Urology and Andrology at the University of Texas, USA, and Honorary President of the Conference; Prof. Mohamed Mostafa Hussein Younis, Head of the Urology Department at the Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University, and President of the Conference; Prof. Bilal Farhan, Professor of Urology and Andrology at the University of Texas, USA, and Secretary-General of the Conference; in addition to the heads of the scientific committees, Dr. Ahmed Salah El-Din and Dr. Hassan Gad, esteemed lecturers of Urology at the Faculty of Medicine.

 

The conference was further honored by the presence of Prof. Sherif Murad, Professor of Urology at Ain Shams University and Secretary of the Egyptian Society of Urology, and Prof. Osama Abdel-Hay, President of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate, alongside a distinguished group of professors and experts in urology from Egyptian, Arab, and international universities.

 

In his opening remarks, Prof. El-Dashoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, welcomed the participants and wished them a pleasant stay in Aswan. He highlighted the importance of scientific conferences as key platforms for exchanging expertise and discussing the latest medical advancements. He emphasized that hosting this international scientific event reflects Aswan University’s growing status as a leading medical and educational hub in Upper Egypt, as well as its commitment to supporting specialized conferences that contribute to the development of the healthcare system and the improvement of medical services provided to citizens.

 

The conference witnessed broad participation from a select group of professors and specialists in urology from Egypt, the Arab world, and abroad. Prof. Gamal Ghoneim, Honorary President of the Conference, stated that the event represents a valuable scientific opportunity to train young physicians and medical teams in the latest advanced surgical techniques. He also underscored the Faculty of Medicine’s focus on applied medical education and the integration of scientific research with clinical practice.

 

For his part, Prof. Bilal Farhan, Secretary-General of the Conference, praised the outstanding efforts of Aswan University Hospitals in general, and the Urology Department in particular. He noted that these efforts reflect the university’s vision and the commitment of hospital leadership to supporting scientific research and advancing the medical system. He also referred to the two days of pre-conference workshops, during which major surgical procedures were performed by leading urology experts from Egypt and abroad, facilitating the exchange of expertise and showcasing the latest innovations in urological and reproductive surgery.

 

Prof. Mohamed Mostafa Hussein Younis, Head of the Urology and Andrology Department and President of the Conference, explained that the conference will run for three days, from February 4 to 6, 2026. He added that preparations included five specialized workshops held over two days at the university hospital. He further noted that the scientific sessions will address the latest techniques and technologies in urological and reproductive surgery, including endoscopic and laser procedures, urethral surgeries, and the management of prostate diseases, erectile dysfunction, and urinary incontinence. The sessions feature international speakers, clinical case presentations, and extensive scientific discussions aimed at exchanging expertise and enhancing clinical performance.

 

Finally, Dr. Amr Alam El-Din, Director of the Surgery Hospital and Lecturer of Urology, stated that hosting the scientific sessions and accompanying workshops represents a high-level scientific and practical contribution that enhances the skills of medical professionals and provides patients with access to the most advanced surgical treatment methods. This, in turn, supports the healthcare system and strengthens Aswan University’s position as a distinguished medical and educational institution in Upper Egypt. The conference reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to academic and medical excellence, community service, and keeping pace with the latest global developments in urological and reproductive surgery.
