Under the patronage of Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, Aswan university president, and Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury, dean of the faculty of medicine and chairman of Aswan university hospitals, under the supervision of Prof. Gamal El-Din Esmat, professor of gastroenterology and tropical medicine and conference’s honorary president, Prof. Ehab Fawzy Abdo, professor of tropical medicine and gastroenterology at Assiut university and conference’s chairman, Prof. Sahar Hassani, assistant professor of tropical medicine at Assiut university and the scientific supervisor of the department in Aswan university’s faculty of medicine, in the presence of Dr. Awni Ali Abdel Rahman, lecturer in the department of tropical medicine and gastroenterology, and Dr. Mina Tharwat Shoukry, lecturer in the department of tropical medicine and gastroenterology, and Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Fattah, lecturer in the department of tropical medicine and gastroenterology, today, Thursday, March 31, 2022, the activities of the Fifth Annual Conference of the department of Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology were launched and organized in cooperation with the Egyptian Association for Research and Training in Hepatogastroenterology, as well as the department of gastroenterology and hepatology at Fever Hospital in Aswan entitled:
HCC from A-Z (Single Topic One Day Conference)
In the beginning, Prof. Othman welcomed the attendees and stressed during his speech that paying attention to citizen’s health is one of the most important priorities of the state in the program of combating Virus C and Virus B, adding that Aswan university pursues thought and culture of encouraging educational tourism and holding scientific and medical conferences in the governorate. International scientific conferences are a good opportunity to promote tourism and introduce the most important tourist attractions in Aswan .
Prof. Dahshoury indicated that faculty of medicine is keen to organize many scientific, medical and research conferences and to encourage academic staff, their assistants as well as students to participate in all activities and scientific conferences that benefit research and scientific process by exchanging experiences, which in turn leads to the development of the capabilities and skills of young doctors to reach an advanced scientific level and to provide a better medical service for gastroenterological patients in university hospital, as well as to develop the educational system and keep pace with the new issues in the field of medical education and continuous research.
Prof. Esmat, former vice president of Cairo University and founder of the National Committee to Combat Hepatitis, explained that the committee has taken positive steps towards liver diseases, through which it can eliminate C virus and the B virus.
Prof. Sahar, chairman of the department of tropical medicine and gastroenterology, stated that the conference aims to apply all new issues in diagnosing and treating liver tumors, and that the it will be held, Allah willing, at the same time each year.
Prof. Ehab Fawzy added that the state is uniting efforts to support the field of health care, an issue that all health departments are seeking under the leadership of the ministry of health, as cooperation between health institutions and the university has recently resulted in a major boom in health sector.
Dr. Tharwat, conference’s general coordinator, said that it is a single-day conference, with the participation of more than one hundred professors, researchers and doctors from Aswan governorate and other governorates.
It included many scientific sessions and a review of the conference’s themes, in the presence of a large gathering of Egyptian university professors. A selected group of professors of digestive system, liver and infectious diseases in various universities and doctors from Aswan and other different governorates participated in it.
On the sidelines of the meeting, and based on the idea that the culture of honor is one of the most important things that help in the advancement of societies, Prof. Sahar Hassani honored the young researchers of the doctors participating in the conference, she granted a Shield of Appreciation to His Excellency Prof. Ayman Othman and Prof. Dahshori for their efforts to promote the department in particular and the faculty and Aswan university in general.
