Faculty of medicine and Aswan university hospitals concluded the activities of the medical convoy sent to the village of Gharb Sohail as a part of “Dignified Life” initiative launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to develop Egyptian villages, following the visit of the President to the people of the village.
The convoy was organized under the auspices of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, minister of higher education and scientific research, Maj. Gen. Ashraf Atteya, Aswan governor, Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, Aswan university president, Prof. Mohamed Zaki Al-Dahshoury, dean of the faculty of medicine and chairman of university hospitals, Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Amin, vice dean of the faculty of medicine for community service and environmental development, and Dr. Ashraf Ahmed Maabed, executive manager of Aswan university hospitals.
Prof. Ayman Othman stressed on the importance of the university’s role in community service and environmental development through its participation in the presidential initiatives, including “Dignified Life” initiative to develop Egyptian villages. He pointed out that continuing launching of medical convoys is part of its participation in serving local community, through the provision of distinguished services in all disciplines by experts and specialized professors in line with the objectives of the presidential initiative. Other medical convoys will be launched for the various villages of the governorate.
Prof. Dahshoury stressed on the importance of highlighting the role of university education in developing society and expanding its knowledge and cultural horizons through the contribution of its institutions in graduating youth who are capable of developing their societies. The convoy aimed at reducing the burden on citizens and activating the role of the university in serving people of the region through integrated convoys to the neediest villages. The convoy concluded its activities today corresponding to December 30, 2021. It lasted for two days and provide free treatment and check-up to the people of Gharb Suhail and the surrounding areas.
Dr. Meabed explained that the medical convoy specialized in ophthalmology which lasted for two days, checked up (250) cases of which 16 ones were referred to Aswan university hospital for operations vary from cataract and pterygium. The convoy activities is part of a societal framework of Aswan university hospitals at medical and service levels provided to the people of Aswan and the people of Gharb Suhail village.
