The 8th Annual Conference of the Department of Otolaryngology Highlighted the Latest Scientific Advancements in the Field

The 8th Annual Conference of the Department of Otolaryngology (ENT) officially commenced on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Pyramisa Isis Island Hotel in Aswan. The conference brought together a distinguished group of professors, experts, and specialists from various Egyptian universities, in a prominent scientific event that reflects the university’s stature and its leading role in supporting medical education and scientific research.

 

The conference is held under the auspices of Prof. Loay Saad El-Din Nasrat, President of Aswan University; Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dashoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; and Prof. Ashraf Maabad, Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals. It is supervised by Prof. Essam Abu El-Magd, Head of the Department of Otolaryngology and Conference Chair.

 

Prof. Nasrat inaugurated the conference by welcoming the distinguished attendees and emphasizing the university’s ongoing commitment to supporting scientific conferences as a cornerstone for achieving academic excellence and serving the community.

 

For his part, Prof. El-Dashoury affirmed that organizing such conferences reflects the Faculty’s dedication to promoting scientific activities that contribute to the development of the educational process and the enhancement of physicians’ professional competencies. He also commended the excellent organization of the conference and praised the significant progress recently achieved by the Department of Otolaryngology.

 

Prof. Maabad stated that the scientific departments are keen to link academic knowledge with practical application in hospitals through such conferences, thereby ensuring the delivery of advanced and safe medical services to patients. He added that hosting this conference represents another success for Aswan University Hospitals in organizing distinguished scientific events, further strengthening its position as a leading medical and educational institution in Upper Egypt.

 

Prof. Abu El-Magd, Head of the Department and Conference Chair, emphasized that the conference aims to deliver high-quality scientific content in line with the latest developments, with a particular focus on practical training and enhancing physicians’ skills. He noted that the conference activities will continue until Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Aswan University Hospital, where hands-on workshops will be conducted to develop the skills of physicians, especially young doctors and recent graduates, thereby contributing to improved healthcare services.

 

He further added that the conference program includes several scientific sessions covering the latest advancements in otolaryngology, including endoscopic sinus surgery, cochlear implantation, hearing and balance disorders, laryngeal surgery, voice and swallowing disorders, as well as head and neck tumors, in addition to a review of the latest medical technologies.
