Believing in the importance of the Faculty of Medicine’s educational role, and under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dashoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and the Vice Deans, Prof. Mohamed Mostafa Hussein, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Ashraf Ahmed Maabad, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine, under the supervision of Prof. Shaimaa Sayed Abdel-Rahim, Head of the Department, in coordination with the Aswan Directorate of Education, launched awareness campaigns on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, targeting secondary school students in several schools in Aswan Governorate.
The campaigns, titled “The Dangers of Drug Abuse,” reflect the department’s commitment to raising awareness and encouraging students to participate in community activities with health and educational dimensions.
Dr. Shaimaa, Head of the Department, stated that the campaign targeted 1,550 students at Al-Aqqad Military Secondary School for Boys, Aswan Secondary School for Girls, and Al-Salam Co-educational School.
Her Excellency also explained that the main objective of this campaign is to raise awareness among school students about the dangers of substance abuse and its negative impact on mental and social health. A group of faculty members from the department, with the participation of college students, delivered lectures and interactive activities to high school students to promote the concept of prevention and positive health among them, thus ensuring a bright future for them.
