Under the patronage of Prof. Loay Saad El-Din Nusrat, Acting President of Aswan University, and in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dashoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Ashraf Maabad, Acting Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, the Department of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine launched its ninth Annual Scientific Conference.
The conference was held under the supervision of Prof. Ramadan Ghaleb, Head of the Department, and attended by Prof. Wael El-Naggar, Professor of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine at Kasr El-Aini and Scientific Supervisor of the Department, Prof.Hossam Mansour, Professor of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine at Aswan University, along with a distinguished group of academic staff and their assistants from various universities across the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The conference proceedings commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem. Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dashoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, then delivered the opening speech, in which he warmly welcomed the attendees and expressed his appreciation for their efforts in traveling to participate. He wished them a pleasant stay in Aswan Governorate, describing it as the charming southern city known for its wonderful climate and breathtaking natural scenery. He also expressed his hope that the conference would achieve its intended objectives and serve as a fruitful platform for scientific communication and collaboration among participants.
”Al-Dahshoury” pointed out that Aswan University Hospital currently includes nearly 800 beds. In the near future, the Emergency and Reception Hospital, which includes 150 beds, will be added. He also noted that preparations are underway to launch two additional hospitals that are currently under construction.
”Ramadan” Head of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine at Aswan Medicine, presents a brief overview about the department, which is considered one of the distinguished departments in Upper Egypt, where presents integrated diagnostic and therapeutic services to the Cardiovascular patients, taking into consideration keeps up with the modernist scientific developments and modern techniques, in addition to its academic role regarding learning and training to raise the efficiency of doctors.
His Excellency also noted that this year witnessed the inauguration of a non-invasive diagnostic unit for Coronary CT Angiography, a service that had not previously been available in Aswan. A specialized multidisciplinary team from the Departments of Cardiology and Radiology was established under the supervision of Prof. Amal Mohamed Suleiman.
In addition, in the field of electrophysiology, a considerable number of pacemakers were successfully implanted, and several patients underwent cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) implantation under the supervision of Prof. Enas Abu Al-Hamd. The Department remains committed to organizing such conferences as a distinguished scientific platform for the exchange of expertise and the discussion of the latest developments in cardiovascular medicine, thereby contributing to the continuous improvement of healthcare services provided to patients.
During his speech, he outlined the main topics to be addressed at the conference, noting that the scientific program features a series of lectures and sessions focusing on:
-The latest international guidelines in cardiology and coronary artery disease.
-Cardiac electrophysiological disorders.
-Heart failure.
-The conference also includes several specialized workshops aimed at hands-on training and effective knowledge transfer in the field of modern diagnostic and interventional techniques.
In conclusion, he expressed his sincere appreciation to the academic staff and their assistants in the department for their efforts in organizing this distinguished scientific program, as well as for their vital medical role in eliminating waiting lists for cardiac catheterization cases. He also extended his gratitude to the resident physicians for their dedication and prompt response in receiving and treating patients in the emergency department. Finally, he expressed his deep appreciation to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury, and the Acting Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, Prof. Ashraf Maabad, for their outstanding contributions to the healthcare system at the university hospital.
” Mansour”, Professor of Cardiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University, explained that this conference represents the ninth edition of the department’s annual conferences and is being held over two days, Thursday and Friday, January 15 and 16, 2026. The conference brings together a distinguished group of faculty members from universities across Egypt.
He added that these conferences serve as both local and international scientific platforms, bringing together physicians and researchers to discuss the latest advancements in the field, while also providing valuable opportunities for training and the exchange of expertise among specialists from Egypt and abroad.
He further praised the remarkable development achieved by the department in recent years, highlighting its successful collaborations with Egyptian universities and leading physicians from Germany.
These collaborations have resulted in a series of workshops conducted for the department’s staff at the university hospital, directly benefiting patients in Aswan Governorate. He concluded by expressing his hope that the conference would be beneficial to all participants.
