Under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshouri – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aswan University Hospitals, the Department of General Surgery at Aswan Faculty of Medicine performed on Thursday, December 12, 2024, under the supervision of Prof. Ibrahim El-Zayat – Head of the Department, a complete removal of the enlarged parathyroid glands in a patient with kidney failure and re-implantation of a part of the neck muscle.
Al-Zayat, the head of the General Surgery Department, stated that this is the first case in Aswan in nearly 6 years, having held the workshop in February 2019.
His Excellency stated that this work is the result of collaboration between the Department of General Internal Medicine, led by Prof. Hala Al-Abidi – Head of the Department, and the Department of Anesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care, directed by Dr. Tarek Hamida – Administrative Supervisor of the Department, and Dr. Mohamed Saeed – Lecturer of Anesthesia at Aswan Faculty of Medicine. The treatment is completed following the procedure in collaboration with prominent colleagues from the Department of General Internal Medicine.
Al-Zayat, Head of the Surgery Department, thanked the General Surgery Department team for their efforts during the surgery, wishing a speedy recovery to all patients.
