Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, President of Aswan University, stated that within the framework of the efforts made by the Egyptian state in light of the war that the brotherly Republic of Sudan is going through, and under the directives of the political leadership, the Faculty of Medicine – Aswan University, in cooperation with the Medical and Relief Committee of the Council of Ministers, under Patronage of President / Abdel Fattah El-Sisi – President of the Republic, State of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Ayman Ashour – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman – President of Aswan University, Prof.Mohamed Zaki El Dahshoury – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Ashraf Mabad -Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, and Prof. Mohamed Mostafa Amin, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, for organizing a major medical convoy. Which started its effectiveness on Saturday, corresponding to May 6, 2023, and concluded its therapeutic work on Thursday, corresponding to May 11.
President of Aswan University, Othman, added that the medical convoy includes all medical specialties, to provide free treatment and work to receive and treat Sudanese brothers, Egyptians, and foreign nationals fleeing from the Sudanese war coming to Aswan through Qastal Landport.
Al-Dahshoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Aswan, indicated that according to the role of Aswan University and the Faculty of Regional and Strategic Medicine regarding serving the local and regional community and taking part in the efforts of the state, the convoy comes to contain Sudanese war ramifications and help the brothers who immigrated from Sudan.
”Ameen”-Vice-Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs declared that the medical team in the convoy checked (859) patients with (public surgical-public internal diseases- obstetrics and gynecology-Orthopedics Surgery-Pediatrics) and 74 Sudanese cases that required surgical intervention were transferred to Aswan University Hospital and treated them for free in the various departments.
Ma’bad, Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, explained that the convoy includes all medical disciplines in addition to the laboratory, x-ray device, and a pharmacy, where the work of the convoy lasts for 6 days at Qastal Landport, doctors who took part in the convoy checked all immigrants who came from Sudan, with providing necessary treatment for them and transferring cases need to surgical intervention to Aswan University Hospitals. All surgical operations have been conducted for the injuries of this war who suffered from fractures, gunshot wounds, skull fractures,s, and burns, also hemodialysis for all kidney and internal diseases patients in the New Specialized University Hospital.
