A Collaboration Between One of Japan’s Leading Analytical Instruments Companies and Government Universities

The Department of International Organizations and Conferences at the General Administration of Cultural Relations of the Supreme Council of Universities announces that, with reference to the letter received by the Council’s Secretariat from the Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which included a communication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Egyptian Ambassador in Tokyo held a meeting with the leadership of SHIMADZU, one of the leading Japanese companies in the field of analytical instruments and advanced scientific and engineering equipment, particularly gas chromatography systems used in the petrochemical industry.

During the meeting, the company’s researchers presented their latest advanced instruments and technologies, including specialized devices for analyzing trace components capable of detecting drug compounds, food contaminants, and blood biomarkers, thereby contributing to the early detection of diseases and bacteria. They also showcased technologies for identifying predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease, in addition to advanced techniques for imaging brain functions and measuring brain activity using infrared light.

In this context, the Egyptian Ambassador in Tokyo expressed Egypt’s readiness to cooperate with the company, given the alignment between its areas of expertise and the Egyptian state’s efforts to develop the healthcare system and promote scientific research and applied technology. He also emphasized the importance of connecting the company with Egyptian universities that could serve as effective research partners, most notably the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology, along with several other Egyptian public universities.

For its part, the leadership of SHIMADZU expressed its readiness to cooperate with Egypt, particularly in the fields of pharmaceutical analysis and water technologies, especially as the company seeks to expand its collaboration with global research centers and leading universities that possess a clear technological vision.
