76 Surgeries Were Performed at the Conclusion of the Cleft Lip Convoy Activities at the Plastic Surgery Department at the University Hospital

Under the patronage of Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, President of Aswan University, and Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshouri, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aswan University Hospitals, under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Salah El-Din Fahmy, Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, and in the presence of Prof. Mansour Kabbash, former President of Aswan University and Professor of General Surgery at Aswan Faculty of Medicine, the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University Hospital, headed by Prof. Ahmed Qanawi, announced the conclusion of the activities of the Cleft Lip Convoy, which resulted in (76) surgical operations.

The head of the plastic surgery department, Qanawi, announced that the annual convoy for birth defects and deformities in children has concluded its surgical work. The convoy took place at Aswan University Hospital and lasted until Monday after its activities were concluded. During that time, 371 cases were examined, and 178 cases were prepared to undergo operations in the department in the upcoming weeks. H.E. thanked the hospital administration specifically and the university administration generally for their ongoing support of the department, wishing for a speedy recovery and smiles for all the children. The Operation Smile Foundation launches a free medical convoy in the department every year.

Pointing out that there will be a scientific medical conference right after the convoy to talk about the injuries and defects in the cases and how to treat them. They will also be exchanging experiences, working to encourage medical and academic work in the plastic surgery department, and giving young doctors and plastic surgery specialists a chance to share their experiences.
