Under the patronage of Aswan university president Prof. Ahmed Ghellab Mohamed, the dean of the faculty of medicine Prof. Mohamed Zaki El Dahshoury, and the general manager of Aswan university hospitals Prof. Abdullah Al-Obaidi, today corresponding to 27th Feb. 2020, a workshop entitled  “Basic Ultrasound Course in Obstetrics and Gynecology” organized by the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics was launched. The workshop was held under the supervision of Prof. Abdo Saeed Ayatallah, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Sohag University and the scientific supervisor of the department of obstetrics and gynecology in the faculty of medicine, Aswan University, Prof. Mohamed Salah El-Din Fahmy, chairman of the department, and Prof. Laila Ezzat, assistant professor of the department of obstetrics and gynecology. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Mohamed Anan, lecturer of obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Amr Shehata, lecturer of obstetrics and gynecology, and Dr. Hussam Ramadan, assistant lecturer of Obstetrics and gynecology.

 It was lectured by Prof. Hassan Salah, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Assiut faculty of medicine and the former vice president of Assiut University. 

The workshop handled the following:

  • Introduction to ultrasound and ways to deal with it.
  • Early diagnosis of pregnancy and how to early detect ectopic pregnancy.
  • How to accurately measure fetal age in different months of pregnancy.
  • Identify forms of birth defects during the various months of pregnancy
  • How to use ultrasound in diagnosing obstetrics for non-pregnant women
  • A practical application of what was clarified in the lectures.

The workshop will continue its activities tomorrow, Friday, February 28, in which Prof. Hassan Salah, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Assiut university’s faculty of medicine, and Dr. Mohamed Anan, lecturer of gynecology and obstetrics at Aswan university’s faculty of medicine. The theoretical part will be followed by a practical workshop on devices from 1 pm to 5 pm.
