Under the patronage of Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, Aswan university president, Prof. Muhammad Zaki El Dahshoury, faculty of medicine’s dean, in the presence of Prof. Muhammad Mustafa Hussein, vice dean for graduate studies and research, and Prof. Mustafa Adam Al-Tiri, vice dean for education and student affairs, Dr. Ashraf Meabed, executive director of Aswan university hospitals, Dr. Magda Farghaly Gabri, director of the faculty’s educational development program, Dr. Ali Mohamed Younes, faculty’s quality assurance and accreditation unit’s manager, and a group of distinguished chairmen of academic and clinical departments.
On Tuesday, March 15, 2022, faculty of medicine and Aswan university hospital received the committee of medical studies sector of the Supreme Council of Universities SCU. The committee started its action by a field visit to Aswan university hospitals and faculty of medicine’s headquarters in Aswan Algadeda where the committee targeted the faculties in which the study began in the last ten years, in order to ensure that the required standards are met and to consider the extent of the faculty’s ability to enroll it in coordination next year. The committee included:
Prof. Mahmoud Abdel-Fadil, professor in the faculty of medicine, Assiut University and a member of of medical sector’s planning committee.
Prof. Abdel Rahim Sholah, professor at the faculty of medicine, Minia University and a member of medical sector’s planning committee.
Mr. Saeed Muhammad Afifi Imam, executive secretary of medical studies sector’s committee at the Supreme Council of Universities.
Meabed, executive manager of Aswan university hospitals, stated that 85% of the project of establishing internal medicine’s hospital, which consists of 5 floors, has been implemented, it includes 150 beds distributed in the departments of general internal medicine, neurosurgery, heart, oncology, chest diseases, dermatology and physical therapy, stressing that at the same time the work is underway in reception and emergency hospital which consists of 5 floors and will absorb another 150 beds in the departments of surgery, trauma emergencies, intensive care, radiology and laboratories.
In conclusion, the committee met the senior management of the faculty as well as the administration of Aswan university hospital, it praised the steps taken by the faculty to activate the educational program and to prepare for the next year. The committee concluded its activities by inspecting computer labs, skills lab, the morgue, and the labs equipment.
