Today, Tuesday corresponding to July 16, 2019, Aswan University organized a free medical convoy to”Mansourieh” village that affiliated to (Daraw Center) whose events were launched within the framework of the initiative of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi – President of the Republic for encouraging the community participation of Egyptian universities for developing slums, and the convoy continues for 2 days under the auspices of Major General / Ahmed Ibrahim – Governor of Aswan, and Prof. Ahmed Ghallab – Aswan UniversityPresident in cooperation with the Directorate of Health; where the Faculty of Human Medicine participated in providing the medical convoys and the Faculty of Nursing participated in holding awareness seminars for first aid and reproductive health, as well as a research team from the Faculty of Social Work to assess the village’s needs.
Prof. Ayman Othman– Vice University President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, stated that the 1st day of the medical convoy resulted in conducting a medical examination on (1020) cases in the village, the convoy included (21) different medical specialties, where the medical examination, dispensing medicines and conducting medical analyzes were provided for free.
His Excellency explained that the convoy includes organizing a number of different seminars regarding reproductive health and first aid, with the participation of the faculties of (medicine, nursing, and social work), in cooperation with the scholars of Al-Awqaf Directorate in Aswan.
“Othman” indicated that the medical convoy witnessed a great follow-up and organization from Dr. Ihab Hanafi – Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Prof.Mohammad Zaki Al-Dahshoury – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Mustafa Adam Al-Tiri – Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Abdul Rahman El-Tahan – Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Abdullah Al-Obaidi – General Manager of University Hospitals in Aswan.
From his part, Dr. Hamada Ragab – General Coordinator of the project, added that the initiative of President Sisi about community participation of Egyptian universities includes a comprehensive development for ”Mansourieh” village through the implementation of development and beautification works, qualifying the infrastructure and afforestation works, in addition to sending various medical and veterinary convoys during July and August.
