Aswan University Organizes a medical convoy as part of the presidential initiative for a dignified life in Aniba village in Nasr El-Nuba

Today, corresponding to 15th July 2021, Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman – Acting President of Aswan University, met with the team of the medical convoy destined for Aniba village affiliated to Nasr El-Nuba at the University Hospital, in attendance of Prof. Magdy Mohamed Ali – Vice President for Society Service and Environment Development Affairs, Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury – Dean of Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Mohamed Mostafa Amin – Vice Dean of Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs, and Dr. Ashraf Mebed – Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, to inaugurate the medical convoy works in Aniba village at Nasr El-Nuba. 

The activities of the medical convoy are held in the frame of the presidential initiative launched by President Abdel- Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic, “A dignified Life,” which includes the villages most in need, under the auspices of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as Dr. Ashraf Sobhi – Minister of Youth and Sports, and Major General / Ashraf Attia – Governor of Aswan, in cooperation with civil society associations.

For his part, “Osman” the Acting President of Aswan University stressed that the university’s role towards the community and the surrounding environment, through the community service and environment development sector at Aswan University, and organizing specialized medical convoys within the presidential initiative “Dignified Life” in Nasr El-Nuba villages to facilitate the medical and treatment services in regions and villages most in need.

In the same context, “Magdy”, Vice President of University for Community Service and Environment Development, stated that the university organized this medical convoy in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and non-governmental associations, in cooperation with the Central Administration for Cultural, Awareness Programs and the General Administration of Universities and with the participation of the University’s Social Solidarity Office to educate young people about the dangers of addiction, and working on providing medical care to the poorest and most densely populated villages while providing free medicines.

Al-Dahshori _Faculty of medicine_ stated that the Faculty of medicine participated in the convey with 9 medical specialties” ophthalmology – ear, nose, and throat – internal medicine-pediatrics – general surgery – orthopedics – urology – obstetrics and gynecology – dermatology” and that to examine a number of Aniba village people that the cases reached to 236 cases in different medical specialties, and transforming a group of them to Aswan University Hospital according to the following statistic:

Orthopedic Department: A medical examination was performed on (67) cases, and (33) cases were transferred to the University Hospital.

Ophthalmology Department: A medical examination was performed on (49) cases, and (16) cases were transferred to the university hospital.

Ear, Nose, and Throat Department: A medical examination was performed on (18) cases.

Department of Dermatology and Venereology: A medical examination was performed on 23 cases.

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology: A medical examination was performed on 11 cases.

General Surgery Department: A medical examination was performed on (9) cases, and (6) cases were transferred to the University Hospital.

Urology and Reproductive Surgery Department: A medical examination was performed on two (2) cases.

General Internal Medicine Department: A medical examination was performed on (36) cases, and (2) cases were transferred to the university hospital.

Pediatric Department: A medical examination was performed on (27) cases, and (2) cases were transferred to the University Hospital.

Prof. Mebed, the Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, stated that the convoy provides free treatment to Aniba village people in Nasr al-Nuba and that surgical cases are transferred to the university hospital according to different specialties, in order to facilitate village people.

The village people expressed their happiness about the works of the medical convoy organized by Aswan University and the efforts made by the state in the frame of implementing the presidential initiative, dignified life in Aniba village.
