A medical team in Aswan university hospital succeeded in performing a rare surgery for a 10-day baby suffering from birth defects and bladder exstrophy. The dean of the faculty of medicine and the professor of urology who is specialized in accurate surgeries for children’s urologic defects Prof. Mohammed Zaki Al Dahshori performed the surgery. Prof. Dahshori said that the baby suffers from bladder exstrophy and urologic defects, a rare case occurs for one child between 500000 ones. He added that the operation is an accurate surgery that needs a long experience in the field. Bone, bladder, and genitals defects were treated as well as neobladder and ventral abdominal wall reconstruction and the child’s heath is stable now. He added that urology department in Aswan university hospital is one of the specialized medical centers in this type of surgery at the level of Arab Republic of Egypt. Several cases from Egyptian governorates in addition to cases from The Sudan and Yemen undergone such surgeries in Aswan university hospital. It should be noted that Prof. Ebeed Yassen, assistant professor of orthopedics, Dr. Tareq Hemeda, lecturer in Anesthesia and ICU and the helping team, Dr. Hassaan Ali, assistant lecturer in urology department in addition to the nursing staff participated in the surgery.
