As part of the Faculty of Medicine and Aswan University Hospitals’ ongoing commitment to supporting medical education and enhancing the scientific and professional competencies of physicians, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Aswan University Hospital organized an advanced training program for postgraduate students and resident physicians. The program was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dashoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aswan University Hospitals, and Prof. Ashraf Maabad, Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, and under the supervision of Prof. Nahla Waar Shady, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The program commenced with a welcoming address delivered by Prof. Nahla Waar Shady, who highlighted the importance of continuous specialized training in enhancing physicians’ clinical skills and keeping them abreast of the latest scientific developments and evidence-based medical practices. She emphasized that such initiatives contribute significantly to improving the quality of healthcare services provided to women across Aswan Governorate and Upper Egypt.
The scientific program covered a number of key topics, including the latest evidence-based recommendations and protocols for postpartum family planning, aimed at achieving optimal health outcomes for both mothers and their children. Participants were also introduced to the clinical applications of the (Implanon) contraceptive implant, with discussions focusing on its benefits, potential challenges, and best practices for management in accordance with current medical guidelines.
In addition, the program featured an interactive hands-on workshop that provided participants with practical training on the safe and effective insertion and removal of the (Implanon) implant. The workshop offered valuable opportunities for skill development and reinforced the importance of delivering high-quality, patient-centered reproductive healthcare.
The event witnessed strong participation from resident physicians and postgraduate students within the department, reflecting the significance of the topics addressed and their role in advancing professional practice and enhancing the quality and efficiency of healthcare services provided by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Aswan University Hospital.
