Aswan University Hospitals Launch Free International Medical Convoys Activities to Treat Cleft Lip

Prof. Louay Saad El-Din Nasrat, Acting President of Aswan University, announced that within the framework of Aswan University and its hospitals’ keenness to provide their treatment and medical services to patients in Aswan Governorate and patients in the governorates of Upper Egypt, the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Aswan University Hospital, in cooperation with the International Smile Foundation, intends to launch the activities of the free international medical convoy next Friday, December 6, 2024.

Prof. Mohamed Zaki Dahshouri-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of Aswan University Hospitals the International Medical Caravan is held annually free of charge to treat cleft lip and birth defects in children.

This convoy is highly anticipated by families and patients of children from the Republic’s governorates in general, and Upper Egypt in particular, because it works to support, comfort, treat, and regularly follow up on our children who have birth defects, as well as to correct them and provide distinguished medical and therapeutic services to sick children.

Prof. Mohamed Salah El-Din, Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, pointed out that the activities of the international medical convoy are launched under the supervision and patronage of Prof. Nasrat, Acting President of Aswan University, Prof. Dahshouri, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University Hospitals, Vice Deans of the Faculty of Medicine, and the Executive Director of the University Hospitals, so that Aswan University Hospital works to provide all necessary procedures, facilities, and work to harness all available capabilities of medical supplies to accomplish the tasks of the medical convoy.

According to Prof. Ahmed Qanawi, Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Aswan University Hospital, the convoy includes a full examination in the following specialties: children, plastic surgery, dentistry, speech, anesthesia, intensive care, pediatric nutrition specialist, nursing staff, and medical registration.
