With the participation of: Dr. Ahmed Abdel Karim, Dr. Marco Shehata Abdel Rabbo, and student Mustafa Mahmoud – Faculty of Medicine.
Emad El-Din, Professor of Vascular Surgery at Ain Shams University, stated that this initiative comes within the framework of World Vein Disease Week, to educate citizens suffering from venous diseases, which lead to the appearance of tortuous varicose veins or blue swellings in the legs, as well as the appearance of skin ulcers in the lower legs and above the feet, which cause leg pain or swelling when standing on the feet for long periods. These symptoms may lead to venous clots in the legs.
Ismail, the Head of Aswan University’s Vascular Surgery Department, stated that certain groups are more susceptible to blood clots, such as those suffering from acute dehydration, prolonged bed rest, improper diets, or blood component imbalances. He explained that the campaign’s goal is to educate venous patients on the reasons for preventing blood clots, which include drinking plenty of water to avoid dehydration, moving, being active, and doing light exercise, not standing or sitting for long periods of time, and consulting a specialist doctor when symptoms arise.
