The Department of General Surgery at Aswan Faculty of Medicine opens the first bridge workshop inside Aswan University Hospital

Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Mohamed Salah El-Din Fahmy – Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, under the supervision of Prof.Mansour Kabbash – Scientific Supervisor of the Department of General Surgery and former President of Aswan University, and Prof. Ibrahim El-Zayat – Head of the Department of General Surgery at Aswan Faculty of Medicine, the Department of General Surgery held today, Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the first major workshop in the department, on “Advanced Cases in Surgical Endoscopy”, in the presence of Prof. Ashraf Maabad – Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Mohamed Mustafa Hussein – Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs. The workshop was coordinated and organized by: Dr. Ayman El-Sayed Mandour – Lecturer of Laparoscopic Surgery. Dr. Ahmed Mostafa Maghrabi – Lecturer of Laparoscopic Surgery. Dr. Haitham Gamal Abdel Hadi – Assistant Lecturer of General Surgery. Dr. Mahmoud Hassani – Assistant Lecturer of General Surgery. Dr. Ahmed Radwan – Specialist in the Department of General Surgery. Dr. Abu El-Azaem – Deputy in the Department. Dr. Kholoud – Deputy in the Department.   Al-Dahshouri, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, welcomed the attendees, who were also joined by Prof. Dr. Adel Fathy, Professor of Endoscopic Surgery and Tumors at the Mansoura Faculty of Medicine. The session was also attended by faculty members and doctors from Aswan University Hospital’s department, as well as doctors from Luxor, Qena, Sohag, Assiut, Dakahlia, and Sharkia governorates. He stated that the department will perform eight endoscopic procedures over the course of two days at the university hospital, all for free. For his part, Al-Zayat, Head of the General Surgery Department, explained that the workshop will be held over the course of two days, Wednesday and Thursday, January 15-16, 2025, so that on the first day the department will perform (4) advanced endoscopic surgeries in the upper digestive system, including the following cases (two cases of extreme obesity – hiatal hernia – narrowing of the lower esophagus), and on the second day it will perform (4) advanced endoscopic surgeries in the lower digestive system, including the following cases (removal of a tumor in the right colon – removal of a tumor in the left colon – removal of a uterus – prolapse of the rectum).   His Excellency emphasized the significance of holding these workshops in transferring knowledge from experts to young doctors about everything new in advanced laparoscopic surgery, explaining that performing these operations in Aswan helps to reduce the burden on the shoulders of the Aswan citizen so that he does not have to suffer the trouble of traveling, as well as serving patients from neighboring governorates where operations are performed.

Faculty of Medicine Aswan University Participates in the Third Conference of Urology

  Prof. Mohamed Zaki Al-Dahshoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aswan University Hospitals participated in the activities of the Third Urology Conference, which was organized by the Department of Urology, Faculty of Medicine, South Valley University, in cooperation with the Egyptian Association of Urological Surgeons, under the supervision of Prof. Ali. Goel– Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, South Valley University, and Prof. Ahmed Abu Al-Yusr – Honorary President of the Conference, and Prof. Gamal Abdel Hamid – Head of the Urology Department in South Valley Medicine, and Atef Fathy and Dr.Omar Al-Saghir- Secretary General of the Conference, which was held from March 1-4, 2023 at the University Hospital headquarters in Al-Maabar area and Hurghada, with the participation of elite academic staff and doctors from various Egyptian universities. “Al-Dahshoury” explained that the Faculty of Medicine at Aswan University is eager to take part in research activities, such as scientific conferences, in order to keep up with contemporary urological and andrological trends and to foster experience sharing between young medical professionals from Aswan Medicine’s Urology Department and similar departments at other Egyptian universities. Postgraduate Studies Administration of the Faculty of Medicine, headed by Prof.Mohamed Mustafa Hussein-Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, announced that it was decided to hold two committees of (Postgraduate Studies and Research-Scientific Research Ethics) on Tuesday 7, June 2022, at 10:am, at the dean’s office at the headquarter of Aswan University Hospital. The deadline for postgraduate studies students (master-doctorate) : -Those who want to submit research protocols are Tuesday corresponding to 31, May 2022. -Those who want to submit postgraduate studies topics are on Monday corresponding to 6, June 2022. The conclusion of the activities of the first medical team of the second international medical convoy of Aswan University in Tanzania

Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman –  Aswan University President , explained that on Saturday, May 14, 2022, the first medical team of the second international medical convoy of Aswan University concluded its medical work in the sister country of Tanzania, under the auspices of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Acting Minister of Health, whose effectiveness was launched at Sheki Hospital on Pemba Island, whose activities began on the 7th and is expected to continue until 20th of this current May, the first medical team will return today, Saturday to Cairo, which includes the specialization of urology and orthopedics at Aswan Medicine, to complete the work of the convoy was Dr. Ahmed Salah, a lecturer in the Department of Urology, Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University, and the rest of the second work team in the city of Dar Al Salaam in Tanzania, which arrived today, Saturday, to Tanzania to complete the work of the convoy until May 20, 2022, which included many professors of the Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University from various specialties, which she performed many surgeries on dozens of cases from Tanzania, signed medical examinations and provided treatment for thousands of other cases of patients of different ages and for various conditions. Prof. Muhammad Zaki Al-Dahshoury – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and head of the medical team of the medical convoy in Tanzania, added that until Saturday, May 14, 2022, we had performed 53 surgeries, 27 surgeries for the Urology Department, and 27 surgeries to the orthopedic department, the teamwork distributed gifts to the children who underwent surgical operations to bring joy to the souls of patients and draw a smile on their lips, stressing that this convoy comes as a continuation of the university’s service, educational and medical role towards Africa, taking into account the strategic human dimension in this field.  As well as within the framework of Aswan University’s regional and international role towards the external community in the African continent, and this comes in light of the directions of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to extend the roots of fruitful and cooperation between Aswan University and African universities, especially after the President’s decision to make Aswan the capital of culture, economy and Arab and African youth for the continent of Africa. Prof. Hisham Al-Refai – Head of the Orthopedic Department at the University Hospital in Aswan and within the work team of the convoy, explained that the work team in the convoy concluded its work by conducting a large number of surgeries, detection, examination and diagnosis of all orthopedic and urological cases, especially delicate surgeries such as various congenital malformations in urology, Which is one of the delicate surgeries that require experience for many years in this field, and it included cases of the lower incision of the urethra in its various degrees, bladder exposure and gender cases in Sheki Hospital, and “Al-Dahsuri” indicated that this is the second cooperation between the Ministry of Health in the State of Tanzania and the College of Medicine and Hospitals Aswan University in order to build a bridge of fruitful and real joint cooperation. The Tanzanian people also sent a letter of thanks and appreciation to the political leadership, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Aswan University, the Faculty of Medicine and the medical team of the convoy for their medical efforts.

Dean of Faculty of Medicine Inspects 1st Semester Examination Halls 2021/2022

    Today corresponding to  24th Jan. 2022, Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury, dean of the faculty of medicine, inspected first year 1st semester examination halls (Block: Principles of Studying Medicine) for the academic year 2022- 2021, accompanied by Dr. Magda Farghaly Gebri, lecturer of pediatrics and director of faculty of medicine’s education development office, in order to ensure the application of all precautionary and preventive measures announced by World Health Organization and the ministries of health and higher education where the faculty administration distributed masks to students before entering examination halls and sterilized them with alcohol.   Prof. Dahshoury, said that it was ensured that the halls are prepared by keeping safe distances between students’ seats and clear guiding signs for entry and exit, pointing out that all the necessary protective supplies have been provided to sterilize and disinfect the halls before and after the exams. He urged students to enter in sequence from the gates designated for them to prevent stampede, while obliging students and observers to wear medical masks, and to ensure that they leave in an orderly manner. His Excellency made sure that all means of facilitation and comfort are provided, absence of obstacles, all observers and chairmen of exams halls and controller system are exist, wishing success to all.

  General Administration of Student Care announces participation in the Olympiad of the border governorates (3rd edition), which is organized by the ministry of youth and sport in the following sports activities:  Five-player soccer / volleyball / handball / basketball / beach volleyball / Karate (Kata and Kumite) / table tennis / athletics / speed ​​ball / beach soccer/ swimming / chess / orienteering for the age groups from 15 to 19 years for female students and from 15 to 25 years for male students. Aswan University Hospital Checks-up Children with Cleft Lip for a Better Smile

On Friday corresponding to 12th November 2021, the department of plastic surgery checked-up children with cleft lip at Aswan University Hospital, under the auspices of Prof. Ashraf Meabed, executive manager of Aswan University Hospitals, Dr. Ahmed Qenawy, chairman of plastic surgery department, and a group of specialists, as preparation for conducting surgeries among the activities of the medical convoy for restoring smiles to Egyptian children.   The activities of the comprehensive convoy, in the field of plastic surgery, will be launched from 2nd to 10th Dec. 2021, under the supervision of the International Smile Foundation and the International Organization for Migration, after preparations lasted for more than 6 months.   Aswan University launches this comprehensive convoy specialized in plastic surgery to serve patients free of charge, especially those with congenital defects, injuries and burns, in addition to doing necessary surgeries and periodic check-up.
