The conclusion of the activities of the first medical team of the second international medical convoy of Aswan University in Tanzania

Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman –  Aswan University President , explained that on Saturday, May 14, 2022, the first medical team of the second international medical convoy of Aswan University concluded its medical work in the sister country of Tanzania, under the auspices of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Acting Minister of Health, whose effectiveness was launched at Sheki Hospital on Pemba Island, whose activities began on the 7th and is expected to continue until 20th of this current May, the first medical team will return today, Saturday to Cairo, which includes the specialization of urology and orthopedics at Aswan Medicine, to complete the work of the convoy was Dr. Ahmed Salah, a lecturer in the Department of Urology, Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University, and the rest of the second work team in the city of Dar Al Salaam in Tanzania, which arrived today, Saturday, to Tanzania to complete the work of the convoy until May 20, 2022, which included many professors of the Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University from various specialties, which she performed many surgeries on dozens of cases from Tanzania, signed medical examinations and provided treatment for thousands of other cases of patients of different ages and for various conditions.

Prof. Muhammad Zaki Al-Dahshoury – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and head of the medical team of the medical convoy in Tanzania, added that until Saturday, May 14, 2022, we had performed 53 surgeries, 27 surgeries for the Urology Department, and 27 surgeries to the orthopedic department, the teamwork distributed gifts to the children who underwent surgical operations to bring joy to the souls of patients and draw a smile on their lips, stressing that this convoy comes as a continuation of the university’s service, educational and medical role towards Africa, taking into account the strategic human dimension in this field. 

As well as within the framework of Aswan University’s regional and international role towards the external community in the African continent, and this comes in light of the directions of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to extend the roots of fruitful and cooperation between Aswan University and African universities, especially after the President’s decision to make Aswan the capital of culture, economy and Arab and African youth for the continent of Africa.

Prof. Hisham Al-Refai – Head of the Orthopedic Department at the University Hospital in Aswan and within the work team of the convoy, explained that the work team in the convoy concluded its work by conducting a large number of surgeries, detection, examination and diagnosis of all orthopedic and urological cases, especially delicate surgeries such as various congenital malformations in urology, Which is one of the delicate surgeries that require experience for many years in this field, and it included cases of the lower incision of the urethra in its various degrees, bladder exposure and gender cases in Sheki Hospital, and “Al-Dahsuri” indicated that this is the second cooperation between the Ministry of Health in the State of Tanzania and the College of Medicine and Hospitals Aswan University in order to build a bridge of fruitful and real joint cooperation. The Tanzanian people also sent a letter of thanks and appreciation to the political leadership, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Aswan University, the Faculty of Medicine and the medical team of the convoy for their medical efforts.
