 Under the patronage of Aswan university president Prof. Ahmed Ghallab and the dean of the faculty of medicine Prof. Mohamed Zaky El Dahshoury, the vascular surgery department organized the first training course and workshop on Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) was held over 2 days 2nd -3rd Nov. 2019. The workshop was held under the supervision of Prof. Emad El-Din Hussein, professor of vascular surgery, the department founder, and the scientific supervisor on it. The course was coordinated by Dr. Mohamed Ismail, chairman of the department. It witnessed the participation of the Italian expert Prof. Secure Soluzzo, professor of interventional radiology at the University of Pavia, Italy. The course included specialized lectures and a live feed from the catheterization room in the university hospital for (8) cases over two days with the participation of eighteen young vascular surgeons from Upper Egypt’s governorates (Minia – Assiut – Sohag – Qena – Luxor – Aswan), Prof. Mansour Kabbash, professor of general surgery, Prof.Abdullah Mahmoud Al-Obeidi, general director of Aswan university hospitals, and Prof. Mustafa Adam Al-Tiri, the chairmen of the department of dermatology and venereology and the vice dean of education and students’ affairs. This event is the first scientific cooperation of the department with one of the largest European university centers specialized in this field. At the end of the course, Prof. Dahshoury honored the Italian expert by granting him the Faculty Shield.
