Discussion of the Latest Medical Developments During the Weekly Seminar of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department at Aswan Faculty of Medicine

As part of Aswan University Hospitals’ ongoing commitment to advancing continuous medical education and keeping pace with the latest developments in healthcare, the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University, inaugurated its weekly scientific seminar at the Specialized Internal Medicine Hospital on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. The event was attended by a distinguished group of faculty members, physicians, and medical trainees.

The seminar was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dashoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Ashraf Maabad, Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals; and Prof. Ramadan Ghaleb, Director of the Specialized Internal Medicine Hospital. The event was supervised by Prof. Dr. Awni Ali Abdel Rahman, Head of the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Infectious Diseases.

The scientific program featured a number of important topics highlighting recent advances in gastroenterology and hepatology. Dr. Nihal Abdel-Dayem delivered a lecture entitled “Updates in Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF)”, reviewing the latest research findings and clinical developments in the field. Dr. Mirna Mahrous also presented a lecture on “Typhoid Fever,” addressing current approaches to its diagnosis and treatment.

In addition, the seminar included an interactive ”Grand Round” session, during which a variety of clinical cases were discussed. The session provided a valuable platform for the exchange of scientific knowledge and practical experience among physicians, contributing to the enhancement of clinical competencies and the improvement of patient care.

This seminar forms part of the department’s strategic efforts to support the academic and professional development of healthcare practitioners and to foster a dynamic scientific environment that encourages knowledge sharing and engagement with the latest medical advances.
