Under the patronage of Prof. Loai Saad El-Din Nasrat, President of Aswan University; Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Aswan University Hospitals; and Prof. Ashraf Maabad, Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals; and under the supervision of Prof. Essam Abu El-Magd, Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Conference Chairman, the second day of the ENT Conference was held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

The day featured an advanced workshop aimed at strengthening the practical and clinical skills of physicians. Five complex surgical procedures were successfully performed.

Prof. Hossam El-Basrati carried out two procedures:
-A skull base tumor in an elderly female patient, a highly delicate case due to the challenges associated with anesthesia.
-Nasal polyps with fungal sinusitis extending to the orbit and skull base, representing a critical and highly complex condition.

Prof. Hamza El-Shafei performed three microsurgical ear procedures:
-A complex case of conductive hearing loss.
-A young patient with a congenital ear malformation accompanied by bone erosion.
-A tumor case extending from the external ear to the middle ear.

In the past, such cases required patients to travel outside the governorate, placing significant financial and physical burdens on them and their families. However, organizing this workshop enabled these advanced medical services to be provided locally in Aswan, alleviating that burden.

Assist.Prof. Mahmoud Khalifa, Assistant Professor in the department, also participated in the workshop alongside ENT physicians, reflecting a strong spirit of teamwork and professional collaboration.

Dr. Abu El-Magd emphasized that these cases are critical and complex and require advanced expertise, highlighting the importance of such workshops in transferring specialized medical knowledge and experience to physicians.

He further commended Aswan University Hospitals for their commitment to delivering advanced healthcare services and supporting hands-on medical training, which significantly enhances the quality of care provided to the people of Aswan and Upper Egypt.
