The Conclusion of the Third Annual Conference on Chest Diseases: Pioneering Steps Toward Medical Excellence and Educational Tourism

Prof. Louay Saad El-Din Nasrat, Acting President of Aswan University, attended the closing events of the Third Annual Conference of the Department of Chest Diseases, Faculty of Medicine.
The conference was held under the auspices of H.E. the President of Aswan University and Prof. Mohamed Zaki Al-Dahshoury, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, over two days — October 16–17, 2025 — with the participation of a distinguished group of professors and chest specialists from various Egyptian universities.
The conference was held under the title:
         “Obesity and Its Impact on the Body’s Various Systems, Especially Chest Diseases, and Sleep Disorders and Their Effect on Breathing.”

The event was attended by several leading medical figures at the university, including Prof. Ramadan Ghaleb, Director of the New Internal Medicine Specialized Hospital; Prof. Ashraf Maabad, Director of the Surgery Hospital; Prof. Mustafa Al-Tayri, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Prof. Essam Abu Al-Majd, Professor of Otorhinolaryngology; along with Prof. Shazly Baghdadi, Head of the Chest Diseases Department and Conference Rapporteur.

In his remarks, Prof. Nasrat emphasized the importance of organizing such scientific conferences, which contribute to advancing education and research within the university and support the state’s efforts to promote educational tourism in Upper Egypt.
He also praised the pioneering role of the Faculty of Medicine in organizing scientific events aimed at enhancing medical performance and fostering a culture of research and innovation.

”Nasrat” noted that the conference reflects the ongoing efforts of the Chest Diseases Department to shed light on the latest scientific developments in diagnosis and treatment. He commended the fruitful discussions between senior professors and young physicians, which strengthened the exchange of expertise and elevated the standard of medical practice.

For his part, Prof. Baghdadi, Head of the Department, stated that the conference concluded with several key recommendations, most notably:

-Encouraging scientific research in the field of pulmonary diseases, particularly those related to obesity and sleep disorders.

-Organizing periodic training workshops for physicians and expanding community awareness campaigns on the importance of early detection and prevention of obesity and sleep-related chest diseases.

-Enhancing cooperation between the Department of Chest Diseases and other departments within the Faculty of Medicine to exchange expertise and research outcomes.

-Updating treatment protocols in line with international standards and the latest medical advancements.

-Activating continuous medical education programs for resident doctors and medical staff to improve the quality of healthcare services.

At the end of the conference, participants extended their appreciation to the Aswan University Administration and the Faculty of Medicine for their continuous support of academic and research activities. They also expressed their gratitude to the participating professors from various Egyptian universities and departments, affirming that such conferences serve as an active platform for developing the quality of medical services across Egypt.
