Within the framework of the continuous efforts to develop the health system and enhance the level of medical training, under the auspices of Prof. Louai Saad El-Din Nasrat – Acting President of Aswan University, and in the belief in the importance of continuous training workshops in raising the efficiency of doctors, the Department of General Surgery hosted the second workshop on laparoscopic biliary tract surgery on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, which will last for two days, under the supervision of Prof. Ibrahim El-Zayat – Head of the Department of General Surgery.
In the attendance and honor of Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshouri – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University, Prof. Ashraf Maabad – Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Mustafa Adam El-Tayri – Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, and a number of significant lecturers, headed by Dr. Alaa Radwan – Professor of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, Sohag University.
Al-Dahshouri, the Dean of the Faculty , explained that these activities significantly improve the performance of the health system, as well as their importance in refining doctors’ skills and providing them with the necessary knowledge to deal with complex surgical cases, which improves the quality of health care at Aswan University Hospitals.
For his part, Maabad, the college’s vice dean for community service and environmental development affairs, stated that the workshop was attended by many surgeons from various cities in Aswan and neighboring governorates, demonstrating Aswan University’s significant role in improving the medical skills of doctors in southern Upper Egypt.
Al-Zayat, Head of the General Surgery Department, pointed out that this workshop included a live presentation of (6) surgical cases via a live transmission to the scientific hall, which provides a full opportunity for trainee doctors to view advanced surgical methods and techniques in this precise specialty to exchange experiences between professors of the specialty and young doctors, as well as to work on enhancing the exchange of knowledge and experience between specialists, which is in line with the goals of the Faculty of Medicine in raising the level of medical services and developing scientific research.
His Excellency also explained that the organization of this workshop came after great organizational efforts by the Surgery Department team, as a number of faculty members contributed to ensuring the smooth running of the workshop, and the most prominent contributors to the organization were:

Dr. Mohi El-Din Mustafa – Lecturer of Surgery.
Asst. Prof. Mohamed Rabie – Assistant Professor of Oncology Surgery.

Dr. Mohamed Abu Al-Azaim – Resident Doctor.
Dr. Kholoud Khalifa – Resident Doctor.
“Radwan”, Professor of Surgery at Sohag Faculty of Medicine, gave theoretical and practical lectures on the latest laparoscopic surgery techniques, which are among the latest surgical methods in treating bile ducts.
