Under the patronage of Prof. Louai Saad El-Din Nasrat – Acting President of Aswan University, and Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshouri – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the activities of the second annual conference of the Department of Urology and Andrology were launched at the Isis Hotel on Wednesday morning, February 12, 2025. This comes under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Mustafa Hussein – Head of the Department and Chairman of the Conference, and Prof Belal Farhan – Conference Secretary and Professor of Urology at the University of Texas in America, with the participation of the scientific committee consisting of the department’s teachers: Dr. Amr Alam, Dr. Ahmed Salah El-Din, Dr. Hassan Gad, and Dr. Peter Tawfik, in the presence and honor of Prof. Ashraf Maabad – Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
The conference began with the national anthem, followed by a brief history of the department’s inception and subsequent developments.
Then, Nasrat, Acting President of Aswan University, delivered his speech welcoming the guests, praising the great success achieved by the conferences, and that the university always seeks to organize many medical and scientific conferences, within the framework of encouraging educational tourism, and that the faculties of Aswan University with their various specializations are among the factors of tourist attraction during these scientific forums that contribute to the exchange of experiences between doctors from local and international universities, which is positively reflected in the quality of medical services in the university hospitals, which always seek to provide their distinguished medical services to patients in Aswan Governorate and patients in the governorates of southern Upper Egypt.
Al-Dahshouri, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, stated that the conference will continue during the period from 14:12 of February, and will witness the effective participation of a group of urologists from around the world in the field of urology, in addition to a number of participants from Egyptian and international universities. His Excellency stated that the conference focused on the most recent developments in urology and reproductive surgery, and that four specialized workshops were held prior to its launch, during which eight surgical operations were performed on women, men, and children, with the participation of a medical team from the University of Texas and California in the United States of America, as well as the State of Kuwait and Egyptian Universities. The meeting will generate several scientific, research, and medical suggestions and initiatives.
For his part, Younis, the head of the department and the head of the conference, explained that the conference will address everything new in urology and lectures will be given on:
Male urological surgeries.
Penile implants.
News in male fertility.
News in women’s urology.
News in the use of laser and flexible endoscopes in urology.
News in laparoscopy in urology.
News in tumors and their advanced surgical treatment using the latest technologies.
“Alm El-Din,” a lecturer in urology at Aswan University, explained that the next edition of the conference will be held at the Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University, in March 2026, while the scientific research discussed during the conference will continue to be published in specialized scientific journals, with the goal of assisting doctors in keeping up with scientific developments in urology and male diseases.
The conference attendees also took remembrance photos with the President of Aswan University, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and doctors from Aswan University’s Department of Urology, demonstrating the breadth of scientific collaboration among conference participants.
