The Supreme Council of Universities (General Administration of Technical Affairs of Councils) announces, based on what the Council discussed in its session held in October 2024 regarding “developing a final vision regarding extending the secondment of academic staff at Egyptian universities,” and accordingly;
-Within a maximum of one month, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research shall provide the Advisor, Head of the Council of Ministers’ Advisors Authority, with a statement of the names of the academic staff whose secondment is requested to be extended for more ten years, specifying the major and department, and attaching the approval of the department, faculty, and university councils approval for the extension of their secondment, taking into the consideration non-disparagement with good workflow; in preparation for launching the necessary decision in this regard according to the approval of the department’s council, faculty, and the university. The academic staff (whose secondment more than ten years) got the approval for extending their secondment and must take the first step in registration on the platform for this purpose.
-The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has approved the launch of an electronic platform for receiving secondment and external vacation requests from academic staff in universities. The platform will check requests, display them on competent councils, and extract decisions from the competent authority taking into consideration what’s mentioned in the previous article until creating the electronic platform and this for the special service which is determined by the Super Council of Universities and not exceeding (between $2000-$3000 American Dollar) for the extension from 6 to10 years, also (between $3000 – $5000 American Dollar) for those whose extension is more than ten years.
