“ Al-Khayr Convoy ” conducting a medical examination on 1200 cases at Halayeb and Shalateen

Under the auspices of Prof. Ahmed Ghallab– Aswan University President, “ Al-Khayr Convoy ” a medical convoy launched by Aswan University in coordination with the Red Sea Governorate to provide free treatment to the people of Halayeb and Shalateen, the hours that the convoy has traveled since it moved from Aswan to the city of Shalateen more than 6 hours; the participants in the convoy showed their willingness and high enthusiasm to travel and perform the task and lasts for 2 days (Tuesday and Wednesday). Where the participants gathered in front of Aswan University Hospital at about1:00 am to move nightly to Halayeb and Shalateen (the far southeast).

Prof. Hussein El-Sherif– Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Aswan, stated that the convoy includes about 25 doctors in 10 different medical specialties, expecting a free medical examination for the people of Halayeb and Shalateen on 22 and 23 August, in addition to dispensing medicines, performing urgent surgeries and transferring major operations to Aswan University Hospital, in addition to women’s specialties for women.

Dr. Salah Makled – Head of the convoy, added that “ Al-Khayr Convoy ” also includes professors from the Faculty of Agriculture at Aswan University, to present agricultural information to the people of the two areas and provide the necessary agricultural awareness to rely on agriculture in the future, in addition to providing veterinarians to provide therapeutic services for livestock and animals.

 Aswan University convoy arrived about 8:00 in the morning to (Shalateen) amid a welcome from the people and residents of the city at the “Al’asas Al-Hajar” area reaching Shalateen Hospital, where the convoy excited. At 10:00 the convoy’s works were started including  Aswan University President, Prof.Hussein Al-Sharif – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Hanan Abdel Moneim – Vice Dean of Aswan Medicine, Dr. Salah Makled – Head of the Caravan, in addition to the presence of Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim – Shalateen Civilian Secretary and a number of tribal leaders and sheiks in Shalateen and Halayeb.

Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim – Secretary of Shalateen City, confirmed that the convoy is a nice gesture from Aswan University which performed its institutional and social role towards our people in El-Shalateen and Halayeb. explaining that its people achieved to nearly about 24 thousand people and including Abraq and Marsa Hamira villages, and Halayeb includes11 thousand people.

The convoy ended its work in Shalateen city after extending its work period to about 6 continuous hours, starting from 10:00 am in the morning until 4:00 pm in the evening, then it resumed its work from 6:00 pm in the evening until 10:00 pm in the evening; the evening period witnessed a high demand by the citizens to the convoy.

The convoy ended the first day in”Shalateen” by conducting a medical examination on 775,000 cases in addition to 450 cases in” Halayeb”, the needful medicines were dispensed to patients for free, estimated at 250 thousand pounds; in addition to transferring 3 cases to undergo various surgeries for them at Aswan University Hospital.

Regarding the sick cases that came to the convoy, a large number of citizens came to the medical convoy, and the largest percentage of children complained of ophthalmology, polio, allergies, etc.; a widow with 3 children was keen to come to the place of the convoy and obtain a free medical service due to her inability to travel to Aswan or Hurghada to receive treatment in nearby hospitals.

”Ghallab” Aswan University President, stressed that the convoy aims to provide medical care to the people of the cities of Halayeb and Shalateen; considering this is an authentic societal right that the university provides to the people of the two Egyptian cities; pointing out Halayeb and Shalateen cities are a part of the Egyptian home and the various institutions have to provide social services and bridges of caring in these areas that are deprived of some services because it is located in a border area, pointing out that the university seeks to achieve development for some communities in Upper and Eastern Egypt, believing in its constructive and educational role together.

”Ghallab” pointed to the importance of the presence of the medical convoy for the people of Halayeb and Shalateen, which the university seeks to repeat every 6 months, believing in the university’s role towards our families in Halayeb and Shalateen, pointing out that the university takes great care of the students of Halayeb and Shalateen in various faculties and supports them; stressing the endeavor of Aswan University to establish specialized centers in the Red Sea Governorate to train university students within a development framework that serves the Red Sea Governorate, especially ( Halayeb and Shalateen).

Sheiks of Al-Ababda and Al-Bashariya in Halayeb and Shalateen expressed their thanks to the President of the RepublicAbdel Fattah Al-Sisi for his continued interest in the people of the Halayeb and Shalateen triangle and providing medical and social services continuously.
