The General Administration of Cultural Relations (Department of International Organizations and Conferences) announces, based on what was received by the Council\u2019s secretariat from the Secretary-General of the Egyptian National Committee for Education, Science and Culture \u201cUNESCO \u2013 ALCO \u2013 ISESCO\u201d<\/span> containing the letter issued from the Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations UNESCO on April 21, 2022, regarding the UNESCO recommendation for the ”Open Science” which was unanimously approved by 193 member states of the UNESCO General Conference at its 41st session in November 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, UNESCO states:<\/span><\/p>\n

”A global call to gather best practices in open science at the individual, institutional, national, regional, and international levels”<\/span><\/p>\n

This is to assist the Member States in implementing the recommendation, with a special focus on the seven priority areas highlighted in the recommendation, namely:<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

  1. Promoting a common understanding of open science, associated benefits, and challenges, as well as diverse paths to open science<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Developing an enabling policy environment for open science<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Investing in open science infrastructures and services<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Investing in human resources, training, education, digital literacy, and capacity building for open science<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Fostering a culture of open science and aligning incentives for open science<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Promoting innovative approaches for open science at different stages of the scientific process<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Promoting international and multi-stakeholder cooperation in the context of open science and with a view to reducing digital, technological, and knowledge gaps.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Notes:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    -The online survey on the best practices in the field of open science will be available by clicking on the below button.<\/span><\/p>\n

    -The best practices survey results will be widely published and they will be useful tools for better understanding of the current scene on the best practices in open science, as well as to identify potential gaps and challenges, share lessons learned, and improve knowledge and understanding.<\/span><\/p>\n

    -The deadline for submitting inputs and contributions to the aforementioned questionnaire is July 15, 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n
