As part of its ongoing cooperation and partnership with the Ministry of Health and Population, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Aswan University, organized a scientific symposium and a joint workshop on Saturday, October 10, 2026, focusing on immediate postpartum family planning, with particular emphasis on hands-on training in hormonal IUD insertion and Implanon implant placement.<\/span><\/p>\n The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Mostafa Hussein,<\/span> Acting Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Ashraf Maabad,<\/span> Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, and under the supervision of Prof. Nahla Waar El-Sayed, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.<\/span><\/p>\n The scientific program featured specialized lectures delivered by faculty members of the department on family planning methods suitable for the immediate postpartum period. It also included a practical workshop on hormonal IUD insertion and Implanon implant placement, providing an opportunity for participants to exchange expertise and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice in family planning.<\/span><\/p>\n This initiative reflects the commitment to strengthening practical training in women’s health and raising awareness of long-acting postpartum contraceptive methods, which are offered following appropriate medical assessment. It also supports evidence-based clinical practice and promotes the exchange of expertise between medical teams from Aswan University and the Ministry of Health and Population.<\/span><\/p>\n
