UNESCO has announced the opening of nominations for the 2026 UNESCO\u2013King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education, under the theme:<\/span>
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u201cReimagining Creativity and Critical Thinking with Artificial Intelligence.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>
\nThis year\u2019s prize aims to recognize projects and initiatives that demonstrate how teachers and learners can engage with AI systems in ways that preserve and enhance their capacities for critical thinking, innovation, and imagination. It also rewards evidence-based practices that foster human creativity and address the potential negative impacts of AI on cognitive abilities across all levels of education.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n-Two winners will be selected, each receiving a prize of USD 25,000.<\/span>

\n-To apply, applicants are required to create an account to access the application form.<\/span><\/p>\n

While UNESCO\u2019s official deadline is 8 May 2026, this allows time for the National Commission to review nominations.<\/span>
\nApplicants must complete the application form in English or French by 25 April 2026, and submit the following documents to the National Commission by 26 April 2026:<\/span>
\n-A summary of the proposed project.<\/span>
\n-A copy of the completed online application form.<\/span>
\n-Proof that the project has been implemented for at least one year.<\/span>
\n-A declaration confirming that the project has not previously received UNESCO funding.<\/span>
\nConfirmation that any digital tools used provide free and unrestricted access to users.<\/span>
\n-A nomination letter from the applicant\u2019s affiliated institution addressed to the Secretary-General of the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO<\/span>
\n-All documents must be submitted via email to the National Commission (see details below).<\/span><\/p>\n
