The Department of International Organizations and Conferences, General Administration of Cultural Relations, Supreme Council of Universities, announces \u2014 with reference to the communication received by the Council Secretariat from Prof. Assistant Secretary-General for UNESCO Affairs at the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture regarding:<\/span>
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 ”Nomination for the UNESCO\u2013Russia Mendeleev International Prize in Basic Sciences Fourth Edition \u2013 2026”<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This award was established to foster scientific advancement, enhance public understanding of science among non-specialists, and strengthen international cooperation in the field of basic sciences. The award honors the legacy of Dmitri Mendeleev,<\/strong><\/span> the creator of the periodic table of chemical elements, whose groundbreaking work profoundly influenced the development of chemistry, physics, biology, astronomy, and geochemistry, and contributed to the foundations of what is now known as sustainable development.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The prize is awarded annually to two individuals worldwide in recognition of their outstanding scientific discoveries and exceptional contributions to the advancement of basic sciences. Each laureate receives a monetary award of US$250,000 and a gold medal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eligibility Requirements:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

-Candidates must demonstrate a distinguished record of scientific achievements with significant regional or global impact, based on one or more of the following:<\/span>
\n-Excellence in scientific research<\/span>
\n-Teaching and promotion of basic sciences<\/span>
\n-International or regional cooperation in basic sciences<\/span>
\n-There are no age restrictions. UNESCO particularly encourages the nomination of women scientists.<\/span><\/p>\n
