Under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshouri,<\/span> Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aswan University Hospitals, and Prof. Mohamed Salah El-Din Fahmy, Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, the Orthopedic Surgery Department, headed by Prof. Hesham El-Refaei, Head of the Department, performed a rare and delicate surgical procedure on Wednesday morning, May 14, 2025, on a (65)-year-old patient following a car accident that resulted in a fractured vertebrae and a fractured pelvis.<\/span><\/p>\n

An integrated medical team executed a quick surgical intervention to save the patient. A limited C-arm device was used to treat the pelvic fracture without making any surgical incisions. Dr. Sharqawi Wagih, Consultant and Lecturer of Orthopedics at Aswan University’s Faculty of Medicine, performed advanced pelvic fractures with the help of an Anesthesia Department team led by Dr. Hani Raslan, Lecturer of Anesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care at Aswan University Faculty of Medicine, and nursing staff.
