Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman,<\/span> President of Aswan University, reported on the activities and operations of the free medical convoy to cure cleft lip at Aswan University Hospitals, which began today, Monday, December 4, 2023, and is expected to last until next Thursday in December. This is within the scope of Aswan University’s societal responsibilities, which include providing medical services and medical convoys both within and outside.<\/span><\/p>\n

His Excellency added that preparatory sessions were held to receive cases of deformities at Aswan University Hospital last November, in preparation for launching this free medical convoy for defects and deformities after injuries and burns in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, which is held under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour<\/span> – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Major General Ashraf Attia<\/span> – Governor of Aswan, and under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshoury<\/span> – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, Prof. Mohamed Salah El-Din<\/span> – Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, and Prof.\u00a0 Ahmed Qanawi<\/span> – Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery, Facial and Hands, and in the presence of Dr. Ghada Abu Zeid – Deputy Governor of Aswan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Al-Dahshouri<\/span> added that, as part of the medical convoys run by Aswan University Hospitals, one of the free medical convoys that Aswan University organizes every year to treat sick children in Upper Egypt is the “Hernia Lip Convoy,” which aims to make youngsters smile.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Salah, the Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, the convoy’s operations started in the first week of December 2023 and it will operate on all youngsters who require surgery for cleft palate and harelip. This continuous endeavor serves as a continuation of the medical convoys that Aswan University offers for pediatric patients in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery who require this medical and surgical care, as well as an attempt to support and facilitate medical treatment for citizens and residents of the governorate and its environs. All patients in the governorates of Upper Egypt and Aswan Governorate are eligible for free examinations and treatment during the convoy, which is organized annually under the following title:<\/span><\/p>\n

The head of the plastic surgery, facial, and hands department, Qanawi, announced that a scientific medical conference would take place right after the convoy’s work to discuss the injuries and defects in the cases and how to treat them. The conference will also aim to promote medical and academic work in the Plastic Surgery Department by exchanging experiences and offering a platform for young physicians to learn from plastic surgery specialists. He went on to say that patients in the department of plastic surgery, facial and hands, as well as youngsters with burns and cleft lips, would undergo surgical procedures.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
