Prof. Mohamed Zaki El-Dahshouri,<\/span> Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, stated that today, Friday, November 10, 2023, preparatory sessions began to receive cases of deformities at Aswan University Hospital, in preparation for the launch of the free medical convoy for defects and deformities after injuries and burns in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, which will be held at the beginning of next December under the auspices of Dr. Ayman Ashour<\/span>, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Major General Ashraf Attia,<\/span> Governor of Aswan, and Prof. Ayman Mahmoud Othman<\/span>, President of Aswan University, and under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Salah El-Din,<\/span> Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, and Dr. Ahmed Qanawi,<\/span> Head of the Department of Plastic, Facial and Hand Surgery.<\/span><\/p>\n His Excellency further stated that the “Harelip Convoy”<\/span> to bring smiles to children’s faces is one of the free medical convoys organized annually by Aswan University to help suffering children in Upper Egypt.<\/span><\/p>\n Salah,<\/span> Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, stated that the convoy activities would start on December 4, 2023, with surgical procedures for all youngsters in need of cleft palate and harelip. This ongoing effort comes to support and facilitate medical treatment for citizens and residents of the governorate and its surroundings, as well as a continuation of the medical convoys provided by Aswan University to child patients who require this health and surgical care in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery so that the convoy is held every year under the title<\/span><\/p>\n Correction of congenital defects in children, deformities, post-traumatic and external genital defects, and hand surgeries.<\/span><\/p>\n Qanawi, Head of the Plastic Surgery, Facial, and Hands Department, explained that a scientific medical conference will be held immediately following the convoy’s work to discuss the defects and injuries in the cases and how to treat them, as well as to exchange experiences and work to stimulate medical and academic work in the Plastic Surgery Department and to provide an opportunity for young doctors and plastic surgery specialists to share their experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n
