Prof. Ayman Othman,<\/span>  Aswan University President, stated that within the framework of Aswan University Hospitals\u2019 service and medical role towards society and in continuation of the free medical convoys for cleft lip operations launched by Aswan University under the auspices of His Excellency, and Prof. Mohamed Zaki Al-Dahshouri,<\/span> Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors University Hospitals, Prof. Mohamed Salah El-Din,<\/span> Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, and under the supervision of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery led by Dr. Ahmed Qenawy,<\/span> Head of the Department, its work continues throughout the year, and every month examinations and operations are performed for patients with cleft lips and throats and defects of the face, skull, neck, and hands. For children, in cooperation with the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care, the Speech Unit, the central laboratories of the University Hospital, volunteer pediatricians, students from the Faculty of Medicine, and the nursing staff in the Plastics Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

His Excellency stated that this humanitarian therapeutic gathering invested in the capabilities of the International Foundation for Operation Smile through the efforts of hospital staff, during which the best results and care were provided to reduce the burden on incapable families and expand volunteer work to serve the waiting lists and receive new cases in the specialty to serve them with the best therapeutic methods.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAl-Dahshouri,\u201d<\/span> Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, added that the Department of Plastic Surgery, Burns, and Facial, Maxillofacial, and Hand Surgery at the University Hospital conducts a periodic monthly convoy in cooperation with the Aswan Faculty of Medicine, which provides the best operating rooms, recovery rooms, and necessary equipment even during periods of official holidays, to provide the best service, medical, and educational work, at a professional level that ensures patient safety.<\/span><\/p>\n

Salah El-Din,<\/span> Executive Director of Aswan University Hospitals, pointed out that the patients in these convoys include children from Aswan Governorate and the governorates of South Upper Egypt.<\/span><\/p>\n

Qenawy,<\/span> Head of the Plastic Surgery Department at the University Hospital, also explained that this month, several (48) cases were examined and surgical operations were performed on 13  cases, thanking everyone who contributed to the success of this humanitarian epic.<\/span><\/p>\n

These periodic convoys include general specialized examinations, analysis, preparation for operations, accommodation, and follow-up to ensure the safety of children and avoid possible complications.<\/span><\/p>\n
